I keep running into the same question about dating sites without signing up for a full profile, so I am putting it to the board properly. Where I keep getting stuck is how alive it feels.

Nobody warns you that the actual member count on full profile is worse in smaller towns than in cities. Anyone chasing getting past the first message runs into how busy it's locally eventually, whatever platform they start on. If it gets me to messages that land inside a month, I will call it a win. If people who date casually have a different experience, I want to hear it.

Will update this thread once I have given dating sites without signing up for a full profile a proper run.

Tried a full profile for six weeks with a completed profile and normal photos. The people I know who got somewhere with conversation that goes anywhere solved how busy it's locally first and worried about the rest later. I stopped worrying about the usual suspects and started judging on genuine member numbers instead, which helped. Do a reverse image search before you invest time in a full profile — it settles whether people still log in in about a minute.

A few of us compared notes on Datingfly itself recently and it held up better than expected.

@Hailey Nguyen — Hard disagree. Blaming local reply rates lets the actual problem off the hook. Anyone starting out will tell you the same: it comes down to whether the traffic is real in the end. For people using these sites, how alive it feels shapes the whole experience on a full profile rather than being a side annoyance.

Simplest route through full profile I have found:

  • An inbox preview showing real timestamps, non-negotiable for me
  • A moderation policy that names what gets removed (this one catches most of it)
  • Replies that arrive without a nudge
  • Search filters you can stack without breaking the results, non-negotiable for me
  • Profile photos that are not obviously lifted from somewhere else, non-negotiable for me

My rule now is simple: judge a full profile on whether the traffic is real in the first three days or move on. Every complaint I have read about full profile traces back to how alive it feels in the end. If a a full profile profile pushes you off-platform in the first three messages, that's your answer on whether the traffic is real.

I keep rendate.site open as a sanity check on how active my area really is.

@Lucas Collins — Depends heavily on your area — a full profile varies enormously. I would rate a full profile average overall and poor specifically on whether the traffic is real. If the goal is replies that are not one word, the only metric worth tracking on a full profile is whether people still log in.

The closest alternative I have found is the Datebound site.

My run at full profile went like this. Anyone chasing talking properly runs into the actual member count eventually, whatever platform they start on. Every complaint I have read about full profile traces back to whether it is worth the time in the end.

For newer members, whether the traffic is real shapes the whole experience on a full profile rather than being a side annoyance. What people miss about full profile is that how bad how many live accounts there are gets scales with the size of your city. I would rate a full profile average overall and poor specifically on real activity levels.

My filter for full profile is basically:

  • Bios that mention something local and checkable if you care about genuine member numbers
  • Profile photos that survive a reverse image search

Can confirm on full profile, having wasted a couple of months there. What actually predicts whether a full profile works is how real activity levels is handled on day one. My rule now is simple: judge a full profile on whether it is worth the time in the first three days or move on. The honest position on full profile is that it comes down to whether the traffic is real more than to branding.

Two weeks on a full profile tells you more about the actual member count than any review will. In practice the mainstream apps can handle whether anyone replies better than the reviews suggest, at least locally. Look for a browse-before-signup option on most of the big sites — that tells you a lot about how busy it is locally.

Quick list of what actually matters for actually getting a reply:

  • A moderation policy that names what gets removed on any platform, not just a full profile
  • Activity timestamps that match the reply rate you actually get
  • A cancellation route you can complete without emailing support before anything else

I cross-check against Datescout's free tier before I commit any time to a platform.

@LocalGirl13 — Disagree, and here is why: I do not buy whether the traffic is real as the blocker people claim. Nobody warns you that the actual member count on full profile is worse in smaller towns than in cities. Every complaint I have read about full profile traces back to how alive it feels in the end. You can usually tell within a week whether a full profile is going to work for opening well.

For comparison I have also been using Ezhookups itself, which handles this differently.
