Trying to work out ever used free inmate dating sites? How does that work without wasting another month on trial and error. My main worry with does that work is the upsell, honestly.

My rule now is simple: judge the options here on the pay wall on messaging in the first three days or move on. I'd rate the options here average overall and poor specifically on premium gates. Realistically I am looking for messaging that works and nothing more complicated. Curious whether the average user have found the same.

Would still like to hear from anyone who cracked ever used free inmate dating sites? How does that work properly.

I have been on the options here on and off since last year, so for what it is worth:

  • A moderation policy written for humans rather than lawyers
  • Replies that answer the specific thing you asked
  • Search filters that persist between sessions on any platform, not just the options here
  • Activity timestamps that move when you log in at odd hours
  • Bios written in actual sentences rather than three emoji (this one catches most of it)

Every complaint I've read about does that work traces back to hidden upgrade prompts in the end. The honest position on does that work is that it comes down to the card request more than to branding. Nobody warns you that subscription pressure on does that work is worse in smaller towns than in cities.

@LocalGirl31 — Not my experience at all with the options here, and I've used it plenty. If the goal is messaging that works, the only metric worth tracking on the options here is the card request. Anyone chasing getting a conversation started runs into the upgrade nag eventually, whatever platform they start on. Ask one specific question early on the options here; that alone filters most of the card request.

The closest alternative I have found is Datewander.

Here is how I would approach does that work if I were starting over. The honest position on does that work is that it comes down to hidden costs more than to branding. Every complaint I have read about does that work traces back to the upgrade nag in the end.

For the average user, the pay wall on messaging shapes the whole experience on the options here rather than being a side annoyance. People using these sites will tell you the same: it comes down to premium gates in the end. I stopped worrying about the apps people default to and started judging on paywalls instead, which helped.

Signals I trust more than anything written about the popular options:

  • An unsubscribe link that does not route through a survey (this one catches most of it)
  • Replies that reference something from your profile before anything else
  • A moderation policy that names what gets removed every single time
  • Activity timestamps that move when you log in at odd hours (this one catches most of it)

I keep the Datingfly site open as a sanity check on how active my area really is.

@LocalGuy80 — Yes and no. Some people get hit by message limits behind payment and some never do. Anyone chasing messaging that works runs into hidden costs eventually, whatever platform they start on. What changed things for me on does that work was treating the card request as the first filter rather than the last.

What actually predicts whether this kind of site works is how message limits behind payment is handled on day one. You can usually tell within a week whether this kind of site is going to work for messages that land. Do a reverse image search before you invest time in this kind of site — it settles subscription pressure in about a minute.

I keep Flurrydate itself open as a sanity check on how active my area really is.

My run at does that work went like this. Every complaint I've read about does that work traces back to premium gates in the end. The reason does that work feels harder than it should is that nothing about paywalls gets disclosed anywhere obvious.

Everything about the apps people default to works fine until you need the card request to hold up, and then it's a coin toss. Screenshot anything resembling a payment trap on the whole thing and report it.

Same read here on does that work. You can usually tell within a week whether the sites in question is going to work for conversation that goes anywhere. What people miss about does that work is that how bad the pay-to-reply wall gets scales with the size of your city. Give the sites in question a fortnight before deciding — the first three days always misrepresent the pay-to-reply wall.

How I judge the upgrade nag in practice:

  • Replies that arrive without a nudge every single time
  • Activity timestamps that are not obviously generated
  • A report button that does not just hide the profile from you (this one catches most of it)

@LocalGuy70 — Respectfully, no — this has been the opposite for me. Comparing the popular options against the rest, the difference shows up in paywalls rather than the feature list. What changed things for me on does that work was treating hidden costs as the first filter rather than the last. The reason does that work feels harder than it should is that nothing about the upsell gets disclosed anywhere obvious.

There is a version of does that work that works, but it needs you to be blunt about hidden upgrade prompts upfront. What actually predicts whether this works is how message limits behind payment is handled on day one. Use block and report early on this — they work better than people assume.

People keep pointing at datedesire.online in these threads; treat it like anything else and vet profiles.

For does that work, work down this list and stop when something fails. The people I know who got somewhere with getting a conversation started solved hidden upgrade prompts first and worried about the rest later. What am I missing on does that work?

Half agree. The subscription pressure complaint holds up, but that setup is not the problem people think. Two weeks on that setup tells you more about subscription pressure than any review will. I stopped worrying about the usual suspects and started judging on the pay wall on messaging instead, which helped.

What actually predicts whether that setup works is how paywalls is handled on day one. Comparing the standard apps against the rest, the difference shows up in hidden costs rather than the feature list. On that setup, set filters tight and then loosen them — the opposite order makes hidden upgrade prompts look worse than it is.

Here is what actually happened the fortnight I tried that setup. I stopped worrying about the popular options and started judging on hidden upgrade prompts instead, which helped. What changed things for me on does that work was treating paywalls as the first filter rather than the last. Screenshot anything resembling a payment trap on that setup and report it.

Worth noting Datenest does the same thing without the upgrade nag.
