@Noah Simmons — Not my experience at all with this kind of site, and I've used it plenty. My rule now is simple: judge this kind of site on the card request in the first three days or move on. There is a version of search for free that works, but it needs you to be blunt about message limits behind payment upfront.
Nobody warns you that paywalls on search for free is worse in smaller towns than in cities. Anyone chasing getting past the first message runs into the upsell eventually, whatever platform they start on. Read the cancellation terms before the card goes in, especially on this kind of site.
The tests I run first on search for free:
- A report button that leads somewhere real on any platform, not just this kind of site
- Message limits published somewhere other than the terms page before anything else
- Search filters that actually narrow the result count, non-negotiable for me
- Distance filters that do not silently widen overnight, non-negotiable for me
The closest alternative I have found is Datewander.
