Wanted a straight answer on how to find a telegram dating app group for my city rather than another blog post that says nothing. I would happily ignore everything except how alive it feels.

If the goal is getting a conversation started, the only metric worth tracking on the sites in question is genuine member numbers. The honest position on the sites in question is that it comes down to real activity levels more than to branding. I'd settle for conversations that keep moving at this point. Interested in whether regular members see it the same way.

Still open to being talked out of my position on how to find a telegram dating app group for my city.

Tried these platforms for six weeks with a completed profile and normal photos. The reason these platforms feels harder than it should is that nothing about whether the traffic is real gets disclosed anywhere obvious. Nobody warns you that real activity levels on these platforms is worse in smaller towns than in cities.

Every complaint I have read about these platforms traces back to genuine member numbers in the end. Meet somewhere public the first time and tell someone where you are going, whatever these platforms promises.

For comparison I have also been using the Datebound site, which handles this differently.

@LocalGirl55 — I think this is overstated — whether anyone replies causes problems, but solvable ones. The people I know who got somewhere with getting a conversation started solved how alive it feels first and worried about the rest later. Everything about the big platforms works fine until you need local reply rates to hold up, and then it is a coin toss. On that side of it, keep early conversation on-platform until the other person is consistent about whether it is worth the time.

Not endorsing it blindly, but datewander.site is the one I hear named most for this.

For these platforms, work down this list and stop when something fails. What actually predicts whether these platforms works is how whether it is worth the time is handled on day one. If the goal is actually getting a reply, the only metric worth tracking on these platforms is how alive it feels.

In practice the mainstream apps can handle the actual member count better than the reviews suggest, at least locally. Every complaint I have read about these platforms traces back to real activity levels in the end.

The tests I run first on these platforms:

  • An unsubscribe link confirmed by an email you can keep (this one catches most of it)
  • An unsubscribe link in every email rather than only some, non-negotiable for me

A few of us compared notes on Datescout (free to browse) recently and it held up better than expected.

@Zachary Flores — Yes and no. Some people get hit by genuine member numbers and some never do. What actually predicts whether that side of it works is how whether anyone replies is handled on day one. I stopped worrying about the apps people default to and started judging on local reply rates instead, which helped.

The honest position on that side of it's that it comes down to the actual member count more than to branding. Am I the only one who found whether people still log in worse this year?

People keep pointing at the Ezhookups site in these threads; treat it like anything else and vet profiles.

I have been on the whole thing on and off since last year, so for what it is worth:

  • Replies longer than four words
  • A cancellation route that does not hide behind a retention offer every single time
  • Profile photos that survive a reverse image search (this one catches most of it)
  • A report button with a response you can actually see if you care about whether anyone replies
  • Profile photos that are not obviously lifted from somewhere else

Nobody warns you that genuine member numbers on the whole thing is worse in smaller towns than in cities. The gap between how the apps people default to gets marketed and how how alive it feels actually gets handled is where the frustration starts. I stopped worrying about most of the big sites and started judging on whether anyone replies instead, which helped.

Worth noting Datenest (free to browse) does the same thing without the upgrade nag.

Seconding this. How alive it feels settled it for me too. The people I know who got somewhere with conversations that keep moving solved how many live accounts there are first and worried about the rest later. My rule now is simple: judge that setup on genuine member numbers in the first three days or move on. Does that still happen on the big platforms for you?

@Olivia40 — Disagree, and here is why: I don't buy how busy it's locally as the blocker people claim. I'd rate this kind of site average overall and poor specifically on how many live accounts there are. The gap between how the apps people default to gets marketed and how how busy it's locally actually gets handled is where the frustration starts.

For comparison I have also been using Datedesire, which handles this differently.
