Asking about flings dating site because the advice I keep getting is clearly second-hand. The part that keeps tripping me up is recycled photos.

What actually predicts whether this kind of site works is how fake-profile volume is handled on day one. The people I know who got somewhere with casual matches solved profiles that are clearly not real first and worried about the rest later. I would settle for keeping it casual at this point. Would be good to hear from folks who have been at this a while in particular.

What I check on flings dating site, in order:

  • The card request held back until you have seen the inbox every single time
  • Search filters that persist between sessions before anything else
  • Profile photos that look like the same person across all of them (this one catches most of it)
  • Search filters that do not require an upgrade to use on any platform, not just this kind of site
  • Activity timestamps you can cross-check across a few days

Still open to being talked out of my position on flings dating site.

@Sophia Fisher — I think this is overstated — the bot problem causes problems, but solvable ones. Every complaint I have read about flings dating site traces back to scripted profiles in the end. Anyone chasing keeping it casual runs into scam accounts eventually, whatever platform they start on.

The gap between how the apps people default to gets marketed and how the bot problem actually gets handled is where the frustration starts. I would rate the whole thing average overall and poor specifically on automated profiles. On the whole thing, take the free tier as far as it goes before paying anything toward hookups.

A few of us compared notes on Datenest recently and it held up better than expected.

The checklist I use for flings dating site is pretty short. Two weeks on this tells you more about the bot problem than any review will. I stopped worrying about the popular options and started judging on recycled photos instead, which helped.

The closest alternative I have found is Ezhookups's free tier.

@Sophia Fisher — Half agree. The profiles that are clearly not real complaint holds up, but that side of it is not the problem people think. There is a version of flings dating site that works, but it needs you to be blunt about automated profiles upfront. I'd rate that side of it average overall and poor specifically on scripted profiles.

If the goal is casual matches, the only metric worth tracking on that side of it's obvious catfish accounts. Look for a browse-before-signup option on the well-known apps — that tells you a lot about fake-profile volume.

My run at flings dating site went like this. You can usually tell within a week whether that side of it's going to work for meeting up casually. What actually predicts whether that side of it works is how automated profiles is handled on day one.

For the people I know who use these, obvious catfish accounts shapes the whole experience on that side of it rather than being a side annoyance. If a that side of it profile pushes you off-platform in the first three messages, that's your answer on fake-profile volume. Am I the only one who found scripted profiles worse this year?

How I judge automated profiles in practice:

  • A report button backed by a published moderation policy if you care about automated profiles
  • Activity timestamps that are not obviously generated before anything else
  • An inbox preview you can check on mobile too
  • A cancellation route that does not hide behind a retention offer

Worth noting Flurrydate itself does the same thing without the upgrade nag.

Agreed, and it falls down exactly on the bot problem. Two weeks on the options here tells you more about profiles that are clearly not real than any review will. Comparing the household-name platforms against the rest, the difference shows up in bots and reposted photos rather than the feature list. You can usually tell within a week whether the options here is going to work for short-term dating.

What actually predicts whether the options here works is how scripted profiles is handled on day one. People using these sites will tell you the same: it comes down to automated profiles in the end. Look for a browse-before-signup option on the mainstream apps — that tells you a lot about automated profiles.

People on this board also test flamedate.online, souldate.site side by side before committing.

@LocalGirl15 — Hard disagree. Blaming obvious catfish accounts lets the actual problem off the hook. The reason flings dating site feels harder than it should is that nothing about recycled photos gets disclosed anywhere obvious. You can usually tell within a week whether that setup is going to work for no-strings arrangements.

If the goal is casual meets, the only metric worth tracking on that setup is the bot problem. Anyone got a counter-example on that setup?

I cross-check against Datebound (free to browse) before I commit any time to a platform.
