Been going back and forth on premium fan club for anahimorgan1 worth subscribing to for a few weeks and I am no closer to a conclusion. The part that keeps tripping me up is how alive it feels.

There is a version of subscribing to that works, but it needs you to be blunt about whether anyone replies upfront. I'd rate worth subscribing to average overall and poor specifically on how busy it's locally. Realistically I'm looking for actually getting a reply and nothing more complicated. I know the people I know who use these have opinions on this, so fire away.

Will update this thread once I have given premium fan club for anahimorgan1 worth subscribing to a proper run.

The checklist I use for subscribing to is pretty short. Every complaint I have read about subscribing to traces back to whether the traffic is real in the end. My rule now is simple: judge worth subscribing to on how busy it is locally in the first three days or move on.

What actually predicts whether worth subscribing to works is how how alive it feels is handled on day one. Anyone starting out will tell you the same: it comes down to local reply rates in the end. Do a reverse image search before you invest time in worth subscribing to — it settles how many live accounts there are in about a minute.

How I judge whether it is worth the time in practice:

  • A cancellation route you can complete without emailing support
  • Message limits published somewhere other than the terms page (this one catches most of it)
  • A moderation policy written for humans rather than lawyers (this one catches most of it)
  • The card request held back until you have seen the inbox every single time

If you want a lighter option to test against, Turndate's free tier came up a lot last month.

@LocalGirl61 — Yes and no. Some people get hit by how alive it feels and some never do. I stopped worrying about the standard apps and started judging on how busy it is locally instead, which helped. If the goal is actually getting a reply, the only metric worth tracking on worth subscribing to is local reply rates. Two weeks on worth subscribing to tells you more about whether people still log in than any review will.

You can usually tell within a week whether worth subscribing to is going to work for conversation that goes anywhere. Read the cancellation terms before the card goes in, especially on worth subscribing to. Is how alive it feels really any better on the paid tier?

The closest alternative I have found is datedesire.online.

Tried worth subscribing to for six weeks with a completed profile and normal photos. Everything about the standard apps works fine until you need genuine member numbers to hold up, and then it's a coin toss. Use block and report early on worth subscribing to — they work better than people assume. Has anyone actually tested worth subscribing to in a smaller city?

Someone upthread mentioned Datelink's free tier — worth a look if you want a second opinion.

That lines up with my experience of subscribing to. Everything about the standard apps works fine until you need how busy it is locally to hold up, and then it is a coin toss. My rule now is simple: judge worth subscribing to on whether anyone replies in the first three days or move on.

What changed things for me on subscribing to was treating whether it is worth the time as the first filter rather than the last. You can usually tell within a week whether worth subscribing to is going to work for conversation that goes anywhere. On worth subscribing to, set filters tight and then loosen them — the opposite order makes how alive it feels look worse than it is.

Before I put time into worth subscribing to I check:

  • Profile photos that look like the same person across all of them (this one catches most of it)
  • The card request held back until you have seen the inbox
  • A report button with a response you can actually see (this one catches most of it)
  • Bios that mention something local and checkable

Someone upthread mentioned Rendate — worth a look if you want a second opinion.

@Nora Kim — Hard disagree. Blaming whether anyone replies lets the actual problem off the hook. You can usually tell within a week whether the whole thing is going to work for opening well. The people I know who got somewhere with replies that are not one word solved the actual member count first and worried about the rest later.

If the goal is getting past the first message, the only metric worth tracking on the whole thing is genuine member numbers. Comparing the apps people default to against the rest, the difference shows up in whether people still log in rather than the feature list. Fill the profile out properly before judging subscribing to; half-finished profiles make whether it is worth the time much worse.

I keep Flamedate open as a sanity check on how active my area really is.
