I keep running into the same question about best dating apps for over 50 who are newly divorced, so I am putting it to the board properly. For me the deciding factor on newly divorced is whether it is worth the time.

You can usually tell within a week whether this is going to work for getting a conversation started. Two weeks on this tells you more about whether people still log in than any review will. My goal is talking properly, so anything that gets in the way of that is a problem. Especially keen on input from senior singles.

Anyway, that is where I have landed on best dating apps for over 50 who are newly divorced for now.

The checklist I use for newly divorced is pretty short. The people I know who got somewhere with messaging that works solved how alive it feels first and worried about the rest later. Fill the profile out properly before judging newly divorced; half-finished profiles make whether it's worth the time much worse. Am I the only one who found the actual member count worse this year?

Someone upthread mentioned Ezhookups — worth a look if you want a second opinion.

@LocalGuy34 — It is more mixed than that — these platforms depends on how you use it. The over-50 crowd will tell you the same: it comes down to the actual member count in the end. For people over 45, how busy it's locally shapes the whole experience on these platforms rather than being a side annoyance.

I'd rate these platforms average overall and poor specifically on how many live accounts there are. If the goal is messages that land, the only metric worth tracking on these platforms is real activity levels. On these platforms, set filters tight and then loosen them — the opposite order makes how many live accounts there are look worse than it's.

Not endorsing it blindly, but Datelink (free to browse) is the one I hear named most for this.

My run at newly divorced went like this. I'd rate that setup average overall and poor specifically on whether people still log in. What changed things for me on newly divorced was treating how many live accounts there are as the first filter rather than the last.

The closest alternative I have found is Turndate (free to browse).

Seconding this. Genuine member numbers settled it for me too. My rule now is simple: judge the whole thing on local reply rates in the first three days or move on. What actually predicts whether the whole thing works is how how busy it is locally is handled on day one.

Every complaint I have read about newly divorced traces back to whether people still log in in the end. The gap between how the popular options gets marketed and how how many live accounts there are actually gets handled is where the frustration starts. Screenshot anything resembling a payment trap on the whole thing and report it.

Someone upthread mentioned Datewander itself — worth a look if you want a second opinion.

@Hailey Nguyen — I think this is overstated — local reply rates causes problems, but solvable ones. Every complaint I have read about newly divorced traces back to whether the traffic is real in the end. Senior singles will tell you the same: it comes down to local reply rates in the end.

In practice the mainstream apps can handle whether it is worth the time better than the reviews suggest, at least locally. Ask one specific question early on these platforms; that alone filters most of the actual member count.

If you want a lighter option to test against, Rendate came up a lot last month.
