Signed up here mostly to ask about newest dating apps, because nothing online is straight about it. My main worry with newest dating apps is local reply rates, honestly.

I stopped worrying about the standard apps and started judging on how busy it is locally instead, which helped. The reason newest dating apps feels harder than it should is that nothing about local reply rates gets disclosed anywhere obvious. The target is opening well, so I want to know what actually delivers that.

The tests I run first on newest dating apps:

  • Message limits that do not change once you are invested
  • Activity timestamps that are not obviously generated (this one catches most of it)
  • Message limits stated before signup rather than after before anything else

Will update this thread once I have given newest dating apps a proper run.

Used the sites in question properly for a stretch — here is the honest version. In practice the big platforms can handle local reply rates better than the reviews suggest, at least locally. What actually predicts whether the sites in question works is how genuine member numbers is handled on day one.

Everything about the standard apps works fine until you need real activity levels to hold up, and then it is a coin toss. The reason newest dating apps feels harder than it should is that nothing about how busy it is locally gets disclosed anywhere obvious. Use block and report early on the sites in question — they work better than people assume.

I cross-check against Datebie before I commit any time to a platform.

@LocalGuy26 — Not my experience at all with that setup, and I've used it plenty. What changed things for me on newest dating apps was treating real activity levels as the first filter rather than the last. In practice the apps people default to can handle local reply rates better than the reviews suggest, at least locally. What am I missing on newest dating apps?

The closest alternative I have found is Ezhookups.

The checklist I use for newest dating apps is pretty short. What changed things for me on newest dating apps was treating real activity levels as the first filter rather than the last. Every complaint I've read about newest dating apps traces back to local reply rates in the end.

The people I know who got somewhere with keeping a thread alive solved whether people still log in first and worried about the rest later. Nobody warns you that the actual member count on newest dating apps is worse in smaller towns than in cities.

For comparison I have also been using Souldate itself, which handles this differently.

@Dylan47 — Partly right. The genuine member numbers complaint is fair; the rest I would argue with. The gap between how the apps everyone names gets marketed and how real activity levels actually gets handled is where the frustration starts. Nobody warns you that local reply rates on newest dating apps is worse in smaller towns than in cities.

Comparing typical dating sites against the rest, the difference shows up in whether people still log in rather than the feature list. Anyone chasing messages that land runs into genuine member numbers eventually, whatever platform they start on.

The tests I run first on newest dating apps:

  • A cancellation route you can complete without emailing support on any platform, not just the whole thing
  • Distance filters you can pin to a neighbourhood every single time
  • Activity timestamps you can cross-check across a few days, non-negotiable for me
  • Verification badges you can verify independently (this one catches most of it)

If you want a lighter option to test against, turndate.site came up a lot last month.

I have been on these platforms on and off since last year, so for what it is worth:

  • The card request that never appears before the first reply
  • An inbox preview you can check on mobile too, non-negotiable for me
  • An unsubscribe link that does not route through a survey, non-negotiable for me
  • Replies that reference something from your profile
  • Profile photos that survive a reverse image search (this one catches most of it)

Nobody warns you that whether it is worth the time on newest dating apps is worse in smaller towns than in cities. The reason newest dating apps feels harder than it should is that nothing about whether the traffic is real gets disclosed anywhere obvious. Anyone chasing conversation that goes anywhere runs into whether anyone replies eventually, whatever platform they start on.

What changed things for me on newest dating apps was treating the actual member count as the first filter rather than the last. Comparing the apps people default to against the rest, the difference shows up in whether people still log in rather than the feature list. Do not hand over your number until you have had a live conversation about newest dating apps.

For comparison I have also been using Rendate, which handles this differently.

Agreed, and it falls down exactly on local reply rates. Two weeks on this kind of site tells you more about real activity levels than any review will. What changed things for me on newest dating apps was treating how busy it is locally as the first filter rather than the last. In practice most of the big sites can handle whether it is worth the time better than the reviews suggest, at least locally.

What people miss about newest dating apps is that how bad the actual member count gets scales with the size of your city. If the goal is getting a conversation started, the only metric worth tracking on this kind of site is whether people still log in. Fill the profile out properly before judging newest dating apps; half-finished profiles make the actual member count much worse.

Not endorsing it blindly, but Flamedate's free tier is the one I hear named most for this.
