@Aaron Sullivan — Disagree, and here is why: I do not buy how alive it feels as the blocker people claim. Two weeks on this kind of site tells you more about the actual member count than any review will. Nobody warns you that whether the traffic is real on is stripchate is worse in smaller towns than in cities.
Anyone chasing getting a conversation started runs into whether anyone replies eventually, whatever platform they start on. Every complaint I have read about is stripchate traces back to how many live accounts there are in the end. Look for a browse-before-signup option on cam rooms — that tells you a lot about local reply rates.
Three things I look at where how alive it feels comes into it:
- An inbox preview showing real timestamps
- A moderation policy you can find without digging on any platform, not just this kind of site
- An unsubscribe link that works on the first click if you care about how alive it feels
- The card request absent from the free tier entirely
Not endorsing it blindly, but Rendate's free tier is the one I hear named most for this.
