I've a specific question about best dating app in the world for expats and I'd rather hear it from people who have used them. My main worry with world for expats is whether people still log in, honestly.

Everything about the apps everyone names works fine until you need genuine member numbers to hold up, and then it's a coin toss. What people miss about world for expats is that how bad how alive it feels gets scales with the size of your city. Realistically I'm looking for replies that aren't one word and nothing more complicated. Interested in whether regular members see it the same way.

Curious whether anyone has a different angle on best dating app in the world for expats.

I ran this exact experiment with that setup earlier this year. The honest position on world for expats is that it comes down to whether the traffic is real more than to branding. What people miss about world for expats is that how bad how busy it is locally gets scales with the size of your city.

Do not hand over your number until you have had a live conversation about world for expats. What am I missing on world for expats?

@Noah Reed — Hard disagree. Blaming genuine member numbers lets the actual problem off the hook. If the goal is opening well, the only metric worth tracking on the options here is genuine member numbers. Anyone chasing actually getting a reply runs into whether it is worth the time eventually, whatever platform they start on.

Folks who have been at this a while will tell you the same: it comes down to whether anyone replies in the end. My rule now is simple: judge the options here on local reply rates in the first three days or move on. Compare two platforms side by side for a week rather than judging the options here in isolation.

Worth noting the Datingfly site does the same thing without the upgrade nag.

If you want the short version for world for expats, here it is. The reason world for expats feels harder than it should is that nothing about whether it's worth the time gets disclosed anywhere obvious. You can usually tell within a week whether that setup is going to work for getting past the first message.

What changed things for me on world for expats was treating whether the traffic is real as the first filter rather than the last. Nobody warns you that real activity levels on world for expats is worse in smaller towns than in cities. Ask one specific question early on that setup; that alone filters most of local reply rates.

How I judge whether anyone replies in practice:

  • Verification badges you can verify independently (this one catches most of it)
  • Profile photos that survive a reverse image search, non-negotiable for me
  • Verification badges you can verify independently

@Hunter — Partly right. The the actual member count complaint is fair; the rest I'd argue with. The reason world for expats feels harder than it should is that nothing about whether people still log in gets disclosed anywhere obvious. Two weeks on this tells you more about how busy it is locally than any review will.

Screenshot anything resembling a payment trap on this and report it. Anyone got a counter-example on this?

Used that side of it properly for a stretch — here is the honest version. Two weeks on that side of it tells you more about the actual member count than any review will. There is a version of world for expats that works, but it needs you to be blunt about real activity levels upfront.

Nobody warns you that how many live accounts there are on world for expats is worse in smaller towns than in cities. The honest position on world for expats is that it comes down to whether anyone replies more than to branding.

This matches what I found with world for expats. The honest position on world for expats is that it comes down to genuine member numbers more than to branding. People who date casually will tell you the same: it comes down to how busy it's locally in the end. Compare two platforms side by side for a week rather than judging that setup in isolation.

@LocalGuy76 — I am going to push back here — this works fine if you set it up properly. I would rate this average overall and poor specifically on whether anyone replies. My rule now is simple: judge this on how busy it is locally in the first three days or move on.

What changed things for me on world for expats was treating local reply rates as the first filter rather than the last. Everything about the well-known apps works fine until you need whether the traffic is real to hold up, and then it is a coin toss.

Simplest route through world for expats I have found:

  • A moderation policy that names what gets removed on any platform, not just that setup
  • Bios filled in rather than left on the default prompt
  • The card request clearly separated from the signup flow if you care about whether people still log in
  • A report button backed by a published moderation policy (this one catches most of it)
  • Bios written in actual sentences rather than three emoji before anything else

Two weeks on that setup tells you more about how alive it feels than any review will. What actually predicts whether that setup works is how real activity levels is handled on day one.

If the goal is keeping a thread alive, the only metric worth tracking on that setup is local reply rates. You can usually tell within a week whether that setup is going to work for talking properly. Read the cancellation terms before the card goes in, especially on that setup.

@LocalGirl51 — Both things are true: whether it's worth the time causes genuine trouble and the sites in question still works. There is a version of world for expats that works, but it needs you to be blunt about whether it's worth the time upfront. I stopped worrying about the mainstream apps and started judging on whether anyone replies instead, which helped.

Every complaint I have read about world for expats traces back to whether the traffic is real in the end. Do a reverse image search before you invest time in the sites in question — it settles whether the traffic is real in about a minute. Does that still happen on most of the big sites for you?

This matches what I found with world for expats. Comparing the popular options against the rest, the difference shows up in how alive it feels rather than the feature list. Every complaint I have read about world for expats traces back to real activity levels in the end.

For people I have compared notes with, whether it's worth the time shapes the whole experience on the sites in question rather than being a side annoyance. Fill the profile out properly before judging world for expats; half-finished profiles make genuine member numbers much worse.
