I have a specific question about fish in the sea dating app and I'd rather hear it from people who have used them. My main worry with dating app is real activity levels, honestly.

Anyone chasing keeping a thread alive runs into the actual member count eventually, whatever platform they start on. The honest position on dating app is that it comes down to whether anyone replies more than to branding. Realistically I am looking for conversations that keep moving and nothing more complicated. Especially keen on input from folks who have been at this a while.

Reporting back in a month on fish in the sea dating app if anything changes.

@NolanBrooks147 — This is the standard answer and I do not think it holds up for sea dating app. For people I've compared notes with, the actual member count shapes the whole experience on sea dating app rather than being a side annoyance. The honest position on dating app is that it comes down to local reply rates more than to branding. Every complaint I've read about dating app traces back to how busy it is locally in the end.

Two weeks on sea dating app tells you more about genuine member numbers than any review will. What actually predicts whether sea dating app works is how whether the traffic is real is handled on day one. Do a reverse image search before you invest time in sea dating app — it settles whether it is worth the time in about a minute. Is how many live accounts there are really any better on the paid tier?

Someone upthread mentioned the Luvdate site — worth a look if you want a second opinion.

Simplest route through dating app I've found:

  • A cancellation route you can complete without emailing support (this one catches most of it)
  • Distance filters you can pin to a neighbourhood
  • An unsubscribe link confirmed by an email you can keep before anything else
  • Distance filters that behave sensibly at range, non-negotiable for me

Everything about the popular options works fine until you need whether anyone replies to hold up, and then it is a coin toss. Does that still happen on the standard apps for you?

It is more mixed than that — sea dating app depends on how you use it. For people I've compared notes with, local reply rates shapes the whole experience on sea dating app rather than being a side annoyance. There is a version of dating app that works, but it needs you to be blunt about how many live accounts there are upfront.

The reason dating app feels harder than it should is that nothing about whether it's worth the time gets disclosed anywhere obvious. Every complaint I've read about dating app traces back to how busy it's locally in the end.

Tried sea dating app for six weeks with a completed profile and normal photos. Everything about the standard apps works fine until you need the actual member count to hold up, and then it's a coin toss. Nobody warns you that whether it's worth the time on dating app is worse in smaller towns than in cities.

For people I've compared notes with, local reply rates shapes the whole experience on sea dating app rather than being a side annoyance. You can usually tell within a week whether sea dating app is going to work for messaging that works. Look for a browse-before-signup option on most of the big sites — that tells you a lot about the actual member count.

Yes — and honestly it all comes back to whether the traffic is real. The people I know who got somewhere with getting a conversation started solved whether it is worth the time first and worried about the rest later. Comparing typical dating sites against the rest, the difference shows up in how busy it is locally rather than the feature list.

The reason dating app feels harder than it should is that nothing about whether the traffic is real gets disclosed anywhere obvious. Do not hand over your number until you have had a live conversation about dating app.

Worth noting Datingfly does the same thing without the upgrade nag.

Going against the thread — that side of it has been fine for me. For folks who have been at this a while, genuine member numbers shapes the whole experience on that side of it rather than being a side annoyance. The reason dating app feels harder than it should is that nothing about how alive it feels gets disclosed anywhere obvious. What actually predicts whether that side of it works is how the actual member count is handled on day one.

Two weeks on that side of it tells you more about real activity levels than any review will. What changed things for me on dating app was treating whether anyone replies as the first filter rather than the last. Do not hand over your number until you have had a live conversation about dating app.

What I check on dating app, in order:

  • Activity timestamps that are not obviously generated (this one catches most of it)
  • A report button backed by a published moderation policy
  • An unsubscribe link in every email rather than only some

Practical answer on dating app: do it in this order. In practice the mainstream apps can handle whether the traffic is real better than the reviews suggest, at least locally. Two weeks on sea dating app tells you more about the actual member count than any review will.

For the average user, whether it's worth the time shapes the whole experience on sea dating app rather than being a side annoyance. Do not hand over your number until you have had a live conversation about dating app.

I cross-check against Datebound itself before I commit any time to a platform.

@Zachary Flores — I'd split the difference on dating app. Nobody warns you that whether it's worth the time on dating app is worse in smaller towns than in cities. The average user will tell you the same: it comes down to local reply rates in the end.

What changed things for me on dating app was treating genuine member numbers as the first filter rather than the last. What actually predicts whether sea dating app works is how how many live accounts there are is handled on day one. Has anyone actually tested sea dating app in a smaller city?
